Sri Lanka’s Visa caused a lot of panic, problems, and even scams during 2024. Yet, it seems this phase is over with the re-introduction of the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) starting 27th September 2024. Now, for anyone visiting Sri Lanka, the Only website to apply for Sri Lanka Entry visa is

What about On-Arrival Visa?
That is still applicable. But, because a few countries are not-granted the On-Arrival Visa, it’s always recommended to apply for Visa through the website and have it ready before arriving in Sri Lanka.
Free Visa for Sri Lanka?
- A free Visa scheme is implemented for nationals of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan starting 27th September 2024.
- Above nominated nationals should apply for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in Sri Lanka subject to granting/issuing free of charge.
- Nationals of the above-nominated countries possessing Diplomatic, Official, Public Affairs, Service, and Ordinary passports are eligible to enjoy a visa-free regime under this scheme.
- Under this scheme tourists can enjoy a 30 days free visa period and a double entry facility is permitted from the date of first arrival to Sri Lanka within 30 days.
- Applicants who have obtained a free visa and need to stay in Sri Lanka for more than 30 days can apply for an extension by paying the appropriate visa fee.
- Please note that this particular visa-free regime applies to the above seven nominated countries and the rest of the countries may follow the general rules and regulations applicable to Sri Lanka ETA.
Sri Lanka Visa Fee
Sri Lanka Entry visa is USD 50.00 for all countries except;
- Residents of Singapore, Maldives, Seychelles, The Czech Republic will not require a Visa
- Residents of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan Nationals have a Free Visa and can apply on the ETA system or Visa on Arrival
- For SAARC countries, the VISA will cost US$ 20 (Excluding India which is Free).
- For Children bellow 12 Years, the Visa is Free.
- Visitors from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana who intend to apply for ETA may apply through Sri Lankan Sponsor for their ETA from the Head office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka.
There are some minor fixes to be completed on the Sri Lanka visa website. And the Technical teams are already fixing those.

So this streamlined, functional website solves the many Sri Lanka visa issues tourists had since April of 2024. Please note that the previous website of www.srilankaevisa.lk is no longer working and valid.
